The 2022 Chico Art Festival was a success. We thanks all the art patrons and enthusiasts who came, plus all artists and musicians who participated. The festival was well attended for its first year at a new location while we are all still recovering from a pandemic. Everyone we talked to seemed very positive about the new venue. Our new location, although a bit tucked away, once found had plenty of parking and the atmosphere was serene and uplifting. We are already planning our 2023 event.
ChiVAA, the Chico Visual Arts Alliance is excited to announce our next annual Mothers’ Day Weekend Art Extravaganza will take place on May 12 13, 2023. We will hold our gala again at the beautiful St. John’s Episcopal Church at 2341 Floral Avenue in Chico. Our two-day, one-stop Art Expo has four goals: to showcase our local artists, to promote Chico as an arts destination center, to educate the public about the variety and value of art in our community, and to throw a really great Chico-style party.
ChiVAA will continue to garner support from Chico businesses to offset expenses and will promote our artists in print, on the air, and through social media. Participating artists will have the opportunity to transform their assigned spaces into living galleries where they can meet the public, market their wares, and be inspired by each other. In addition, participating artists will automatically become ChiVAA members for a year.
This year’s event will be outdoor only due to continuing concerns over Covid transmissions. In addition we will follow pandemic safety guidelines recommended for Butte County and the State of California for events such as the Chico ART Festival.
